Course Description:

For biology majors, students in dentistry, medicine, and other pre-professional programs.  Teaches essentials of microbiology including disease control, nomenclature, function of immune system, pathologies, causes and cures, genetic engineering, and laboratory methods for safely studying microorganisms.  Uses a variety of teaching methods including lecture/discussion, laboratory, videos, overheads, quizzes and exams. Successful completion of the course gives students an understanding of microbes and their relationship to the human system and health.
