PHYS 2220 Physics for Scientists and Engineers II

Course Description:
Physics 2220 is a continuation of Physics 2210, and is an intensive course for students majoring in physical science and engineering.
Course Objectives:
After successfully completing this course, students will:
1. have a conceptual understanding of waves and optics, the electric charge and Coulomb’s law, the electric field, Gauss’ law, current and conductivity, electric potential, circuits, the magnetic field, Faraday’s law of induction, Maxwell’s equations, electromagnetic waves, and relativity.
2. be able to solve physical and mathematical problems relating to these subjects utilizing the mathematical concepts of algebra, trigonometry, and calculus.
Mastery of the course objectives will be evaluated by performance on homework assignments and examinations.
